Technical Details
The Woodmizer LT40 sawmill cuts logs up to 90 cm in diameter and from 6.1 metres in length.
Site Requirements
Access to the site must be 8ft or wider and to operate safely the site must be not less than 10 meter by 10 meters. The site must be level for the stability of the mill and for the machine to operate properly. A hard standing area or a concrete yard is ideal but a well drained field or forest clearing is acceptable. The site must be accessible by a 4WD pulling a 6.5 meter long trailer. Overhead clearance of at least 3meters is required.
We recommend having a forklift to hand and labourers to ensure the mill is kept supplied and to remove the cut wood. Please ensure that the logs are accessible on site and free from dirt, stones and nails. If the blade is damaged as a result of foreign materials in the logs the blade will be replaced and a charge will be made for a new blade.
The Cut Timber should be seasoned (allowed to dry) before use. Time varies according to the type of wood but as a general rule of thumb wood dries at a rate of 1inch per year. A 2inch thick plank which been stored stacked with sticks separating each layer will take 1 year to dry (1inch each side).
The milling process does produce some waste in the form of off cuts which can be used for firewood, and also sawdust which can be left on site to decompose and left to compost or used as bedding for animals. If the customer wishes, we can arrange for the waste product to remove.
We supply a range of bespoke freshly-sawn, air dried and kiln dried timber products for both interior and exterior use
